Kannawidan Festival: What It's Used To Be

Ilocos Sur is a beautiful province located in the northern part of Luzon. It is a province rich in culture that represents the ancient Spanish and Filipino heritage. To show and share their treasures to the whole world, the locals conceived a festival that highlights these cultural traditions and they called it the “Kannadiwan Festival”.

It is a celebration that lasts from the last week of January up to the first week of February. Included in the course of events is the commemoration of the foundation day of the province.

On the opening day, there is usually a mass held at the St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral. It is followed by a procession of the Patron Saints of the 40 parishes and images of Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary around the city. It is the Ilocanos' way of giving thanks to the Almighty not only for the bountiful blessings but also for the rich heritage of the city, including the close family ties among the Ilocanos. This event showcases the deep-rooted religiosity of the townsfolk.

However, this year's Kannawidan Festival won't be the same as it's used to be. People around the Philippines especially Ilocos Sur come to watch and witness the parades that a lot of people watches near it and the concerts that makes you jump non-stop. They buy lots of food from various food stalls and stores around the area. Visits galleries and exhibitions that catches their eyes. Buys accessories to give to their friends, love ones and also for their selves. Then goes to the carnival to make their souls jump outta their body.

It really was fun and all not until the covid-19 disease spread like crazy. Making us at risk if ever we want to go there so bad. Now, all those precious memories are all in the past. We understand that the government is protecting us. It's just that there won't be big things to look forward to every mid January now, but let's just hope and pray that things will be normal soon for us to live our lives to the fullest.

Longganisa Festival During Pandemic

One of the 7 woders city of the world: Vigan city has one of the most popular festival: the Longganisa Festival and a lot of people are looking forward on seeing it.

We may not be as excited as before but still we must know our limits.

2020 ended not too long ago, it may not be a great year for me but still I’m grateful for all the things that happened to me.

Last year, I used to stay up all night until 3 AM then sleep unconsciously, but I changed that habit of mine few days ago for it’s really tiring to wake up early. This year I’m not really trying to change myself that much because I like the way I am right now. I know that there’s still room to change but I’ll think about it sooner or later.

Some people strive on changing their selves and some don’t maybe because they’re lazy or something else. It really depends on the person if they’re willing or not.

CCC (Climate Change Consciousness)

One of the greatest challenges with climate change is its intangibility. The scope is just too large to grasp, and many of the most noticeable impacts are still too far removed from our daily lives.  For some, climate change becomes either overwhelmingly challenging or abstract enough that it is easy to ignore.

The last few years have seen young people around the world raising their voices on an unprecedented scale, asking adults and leaders to protect them from climate change. Now, by staying inside and taking their climate marches online, young people are showing solidarity with the older members of society, who are more vulnerable to the virus, by helping to stop the spread. 

By focusing on things your audience already cares about, you are better able to raise their awareness, get them engaged and inspire individual and community action.

EQ Drills Must Be Taking Part To

     Earthquakes has caused the loss of human lives and animals, the destruction of structures and human properties. We need to survive through this kind of natural disaster and to that is where earthquake drills come in.

     Earthquake drills are important to take part of, especially the national simultaneous earthquake drill. The drill seeks to strengthen the mechanism for national and regional coordination, as well as the interoperability of key players. It also aims to intensify local communities’ earthquake preparedness and increase the commitment of local government units in building safe communities. “Our safety does not rest in the hands of one person or government agency alone. It rests in our very hands as we put them together on the concerted effort of building safer, adaptive and resilient communities.” Said Sec Voltaire Gazmin.

     With the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill being implemented, there will be an assurance about the people’s safety. A wise man once said that failing to plan is planning to fail and this failure is not just any failure but it can cause the lives of many innocent people.

Impact of CoViD-19 on Education

     The world is facing a crisis right now which is the CoViD-19. It has made the education of students more complicated than before making them struggle a lot. But this isn't going to stop us in learning new things in many aspects of life.

     Digital learning is currently the one used by students who have their WiFi, laptops, or any device at home. Modular for those who prefer doing it offline or who doesn't have the things used for digital learning. Still, learners feel the need of having someone explain or discuss a certain topic they're having a hard time with.

     No matter what happens, we'll still be facing forward despite the hardships we've been through. We'll do everything that our hands can grasp. This is for our bright future so we must work hard to achieve our dreams.

The Stability of the Philippines

     The Philippines is naturally resilient. It has faced many hardships such as super typhoons. Even though struggled, we did our best and that shows how resilient Filipinos are.

     This time around, there is the CoViD-19 pandemic in the Philippines and other places. In a third world country like the Philippines, the economy place an important role. The economy's growth rate decreased but still the Philippines came up with solutions to solve the problem like constantly distributing goods in the market.

     Still many people are struggling and Filipinos are stubborn which is why it is hard to maintain the policy because they don't follow this sometimes, even though, the Philippines do their best to overcome this crisis, it may look like it but resiliency is part of the Filipino identity.
